The Game of Chaupad (Pachisi), 2001
This leaflet describes Chaupad treasures: most of them are in the collections of the Calico Museum of Textiles and Sarabhai Foundation. These fall into three groups: Chaupad, a venerable game of excitement, skill and good fortune, sometimes called the ‘National Game of India,’ is one of the most long-lasting and successful board games to come out of India. No-one knows exactly how old it might be, but it is surely very ancient.
